How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse in the CBD

Updated: Aug 25

Surviving CBD zombies? Seek refuge, gear up, and slay zombies in style.

Have you ever wondered what you should do if a Zombie Apocalypse occurred out of nowhere and you were stuck in the CBD? Don’t worry, we got you. Welcome to the ultimate guide to navigating a Zombie Apocalypse right in the heart of the CBD (like, actually right smack in the middle of the Central Area of Singapore).

Where to Seek Shelter

City Hall MRT

150 North Bridge Rd, Singapore 179100

Clarke Quay MRT

10 Eu Tong Sen Street Singapore 059815

In the midst of a world gone undead, surviving a Zombie Apocalypse might seem like an impossible task, but fear not! Our adventurers have stumbled upon some unexpected shelter options right in the heart of the CBD. As @weiweihao pointed out, City Hall MRT is more than just a train station — it's a Civil Defence Public Shelter! Who would've thought, right? 🤷‍♂️

So, if you find yourself surrounded by zombie hordes while window-shopping in Raffles City, just follow the triangular sign to safety. Note that not all MRT stations are safe havens; you have to look out for the CD Shelter Sign like the ones at City Hall and Clarke Quay, as highlighted by @gerlehdees. You can find the full list of CD Public Shelters here.

Our very own detective @gerlehdees also went full-on kaypoh mode and even uncovered an Interactive Virtual Tour of these public shelters. Talk about tech-savvy survival! 🕶️

Pro-tip (not based on personal experiences though): With zombies that probably can't swim, just hop on a boat at the Singapore River for a quick escape. And don’t forget about the many fancy hotels around! We are sure that the endless rooms would make prime hiding spots. You might as well take this chance to enjoy a suite. 😌

Where to get Equipment and Gear

Outdoor Life - Funan

Funan Mall #02-20, 107 North Bridge Rd, 179105

Opens: Mon - Sun, 10:00am - 10:00pm

When it comes to decking yourself out for a Zombie Apocalypse showdown in the CBD, our survival squad has the inside scoop on where to snag the most epic gear. As @janissa wisely noted, Outdoor Life is basically your one-stop-shop for both outdoor survival and epic sports gear — talk about versatility, right?

You can find clothes there, from helmets to shoes, that are suitable for both hot and cold weather! And there are many useful outdoor survival equipment such as flick knives, portable stoves, ropes, and bags as well.

And hey, speaking of helmets, our resident comical genius @xavsharky dropped some knowledge bombs: don a helmet so that those zombies won't be chowing down on your brain anytime soon. 🧠 If you're a little lacking in the brain department, like @janissa joked, you can still armour up in winter jackets and guards.

Black Tactical

1 Coleman St, #04-36 The Adelphi, Singapore 179803

Opens: Mon - Sat, 1:00pm - 8:00pm

Our inquisitive explorer @weiweihao took one for the team and scouted the Black Tactical. Word on the post-apocalyptic street is that they've got all the essentials — from bags to boots, hydration gear to ropes, and let's not forget those military-grade vests and shields.

But hold up, it's not all serious business; they've even got a Nerf gun and sword section for some undead-slaying fun. Pew pew and slice, anyone? 🧟‍♂️⚔️

And, hang on, our tag-along adventurer @gerlehdees uncovered some next-level goodies: a live langua ge translator (because zombies have their own dialect, obviously), an electronic hand warmer/power bank mashup (because even the undead appreciate warm fingers to hold), a RugGear with smart Push-To-Talk (because regular walkie-talkies are so last apocalypse), and a tactical solar panel (because even the end of the world can't stop us from electronics).

So there you have it, the CBD's Zombie Apocalypse survival guide. We hope that you may never need this guide, but who knows? Maybe the CBD’s bustling streets would one day transform into a battleground. Stay fierce, stay alive, and keep those zombie-slaying vibes alive – you've got this! 🧟‍♂️💥
